Technically this is one of the hardest images I have made, the foreground was so interesting yet so dark, Bright light was hitting the rich coloured rock on the right and I knew this would be problematic. But I loved the composition and dramatic light produces dramatic images. I set the shot up with several graduated filters to control the light and then waited patiently for the light to soften a bit, I made 4 images with different light and this was the first one, it was a long 2 minute exposure and during that time the sun appeared and disappeared creating the deep shadows that really give this image incredible mood and a sense of strength.
