The Great Ocean Road October, 2019
We will spend 7 days exploring some of the most beautiful locations in
New Zealand. First and last stop on the trip will be Queenstown, South Island. This
breathtaking location is surrounded by mountains and sits on the shore of the beautiful
crystal clear Lake Wakatipu. Another stop will be at the world’s first lifestyle reserve
(as it’s referred) Lake Wanaka. Quiet, scenic, full of energy, mountains, rivers, and
glaciers, Lake Wanaka has much to offer. Then, with the Southern Alps in the
background we will stop at Lake Tekapo to soak up its amazing views. Lake Tekapo is
known for its intense turquoise colour, caused by the fine rock flour ground by glaciers.
Also in Lake Tekapo is the popular Church of the Good Shepherd built in 1935.
The days may be brisk, but the scenery will be
ideal for our workshop; snow covered mountains outlining pristine lakes.
About the Workshop
Our workshop starts with a welcome dinner Monday night, most flights arrive mid afternoon into Queenstown, plan to fly in on this day or of course you can arrive before Monday.
Our workshop finishes back in Queenstown on Sunday night at around 5pm, fly home that night or of course you can stay on if you wish.
I have carefully planned out this workshop to include
maximum time for shooting. I think you will find that the variety of locations will give
you plenty of opportunities to explore and expand your photography. I will be working
one on one with you, guiding and giving support along the way.
In addition, there will be an opportunity for an optional activity if you are interested. I’m
offering a one hour plane ride over Mt. Cook. This is provided by Air Safaris and will be
an unforgettable experience for those who choose to partake.

I was amazed at the effort Dean puts into his workshops, he is always there to help, coach and inspire.
The workshop size was just right (6) (now reduced to 4.... DC) which enabled each of us to have individual attention from him, tailored to our individual needs and skills. No matter what level we were, Dean was able to provide information, advice to improve our photography skills and images. I was able to approach him with any questions I had. He generously shared his photography techniques, insight and wisdom. This made for an enjoyable experience and a time to learn more and grow as a photographer. He gave regular sessions for critiquing our work. We received valuable feedback on our photography, and how we could improve – with camera settings, composition etc. And to top it all off the accommodation and food was excellent.
Fantastic photo opportunities in beautiful places with an amazing instructor.

It was a sensational trip. I can say with confidence that we all had a great time, learnt a lot from Dean, visited fantastic locations, ate too much and enjoyed each other’s company. I am already urging some friends to go next year.
"Our NZ photography trip was outstanding. The scenery was spectacular, the itinerary was full of interest even for a seasoned traveler, the food and accommodation were excellent and Dean's individual tuition made sure that everyone learnt as as much as they wanted."
