Lee Seven5 Stopper Range
Little Stopper and The Big Stopper
Currently Lee have two filters in this range, the Little Stopper and the Big Stopper. Both of these filters are made from high quality optical glass and are used to allow a long exposure time or to shoot wider apertures. For Landscape photography we use this filter to allow long exposures during the brighter times of the day. Normally to shoot long exposures of several seconds or even minutes we were restricted to first and last light, not any more !!
The Lee Little Stopper This one is my favorite and can be used at most times of the day to slow down our shutter speed, I love Seascapes with an exposure time of 2-4 seconds as the waves swirl and create fantastic patterns, The Lee Little Stopper will easily achieve this during the middle of the day when combined with a Polarizer and a ND Grad filter (if needed). I also use this filter a lot after sunrise when the light is getting brighter and my shutter speeds are getting faster. Set your white balance to between 7000K and 8000K and you will get great punchy colour. The Lee Big Stopper Lee's Big Stopper is 10 stops of light reduction, an amazing filter that can turn an ordinary scene into something quite spectacular. mainly used in the middle of the day and quite easy to get a new shutter speed of 1-2 minutes. It will turn water into a silky smooth texture and clouds will be streaky and take on a whole new look. It is a little bit harder to use than the Little Stopper as you will most likely need to set up a new manual (bulb) exposure when using this filter. It will throw a very cool colour and I don't mean cool dude I mean cool as in very BLUE, you can minimize this by setting your White Balance to 10,000K. There is definitely a wow factor when using this filter and you can also get very creative with it. |
